Newark Drug Crime SuspectsNewark NJ police recently executed a major drug bust that resulted in 46 arrests and the seizure of multiple handguns and large amounts of illegal drugs.

The Newark Police Department launched the operation after getting numerous complaints from local residents about drug distribution on city streets.

Over the course of four days, Newark NJ police officers executed drug raids and allegedly seized 383 decks of heroin, 309 vials of cocaine, 50 plastic bags of marijuana, and 38 prescription painkiller pills. The seized narcotics are believed to have a total street value of approximately $7,800.

Newark NJ law enforcement also reportedly seized four handguns and a single replica firearm.

Police arrested 46 people, most of whom were charged with various drug offenses that include heroin possession, cocaine possession, simple possession of marijuana, and illegal prescription drug possession.

Three of the suspects were arrested for weapons offenses, including unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

One gun crime suspect is a minor who could face juvenile charges instead of adult charges. That suspect, a 17-year-old male from Newark, NJ, was apprehended after police received a complaint about a suspicious person walking in the area while carrying a firearm. Newark cops went to the intersection of Cutler Street and 6th Avenue and placed the juvenile suspect under arrest without incident.
