Denville NJ Harassment SuspectA fugitive was apprehended after being highlighted by the Morris County CrimeStoppers organization.

Matthew McDermott had an active criminal warrant for his arrest. Denville, NJ police wanted him for several incidents of harassment.

A New Jersey Transit police officer noticed McDermott. He then notified Denville police and told them where McDermott was heading.

Prior to being spotted, McDermott’s case had been highlighted by Morris County CrimeStoppers as its “Crime of the Week.”

After being notified by the transit officer, Denville police investigated and confirmed McDermott’s identity. He was then placed under arrest.

The Morris County CrimeStoppers is a nonprofit corporation that works in conjunction with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the Morris County Chiefs of Police Association, and the Morris Sheriff’s Office. The CrimeStoppers website identifies certain major crimes each week and offers a reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the suspect.
