A fourth Missouri case of listeria has been linked to contaminated cantaloupe from a farm in Colorado.

State officials say they were notified Friday by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that a listeria infection in northwestern Missouri was linked to the tainted fruit.

State health officials say all four patients were hospitalized. One was a 94-year-old who later died, but medical officials determined the death was not caused by listeria.

As of Friday, the Colorado cantaloupes were linked to more than 100 illnesses and 21 deaths in 23 states from California to the East Coast.
