The Meat Shoppe, is recalling a variety of cheese products due to the risk of Listeria contamination.  The recall includes both shredded cheddar and shredded mozzarella cheeses.  Recalled products:

Shredded cheddar cheese

  • Various product sizes
  • UPC codes beginning with 200923
  • Packed between January 8 and March 3, 2014

Shredded mozzarella cheese

  • Various product sizes
  • UPC codes beginning with 200922
  • Packed between January 8 and March 3, 2014

Consumers should dispose of these items.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says exposure to Listeria may result in vomiting, nausea, fever, muscle aches and severe headaches. Expectant mothers, unborn children, and the elderly are particularly at risk.
