GWB DUI Charges in Fort Lee NJPort Authority police officers arrested a man who allegedly got high on marijuana and then drove on the George Washington Bridge (GWB) in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Authorities later found out that the suspect was wanted for child neglect charges out of Hackensack, NJ.

The suspect is a 38-year-old man who lives in Woodland Park in Passaic County, NJ. According to law enforcement, the suspect was behind the wheel of a 2011 Hyundai sedan on the GWB just after 3:15 p.m. The suspect allegedly drove his car through an EZ Pass lane and failed to pay. As a result, Port Authority police officers pulled over the suspect’s vehicle.

The Port Authority cops approached the vehicle and reportedly smelled marijuana coming from the car. The officers also reportedly saw a marijuana-filled cigar on the car dashboard.

Police officers asked the suspect to give them his driver’s license and car registration information, but he did not have the necessary documents and IDs.

Police looked up the suspect’s data in their computers and learned that he had an active arrest warrant for child neglect in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Now the suspect faces additional criminal charges for simple possession of marijuana, theft of services, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in a motor vehicle.

Additionally, the suspect was cited for several traffic violations, including Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and reckless driving.
