RenewData Clients Exceptionally Satisfied with eDiscovery and Archiving Services

Highest Possible Referral Rate Received in Recent Client Satisfaction Survey

AUSTIN, TX - September 22, 2009 - RenewData, a leading provider of services for the discovery, archiving, and governance of electronically stored information (ESI), today announced recent results of its client satisfaction survey, as well as its growing client base and revenue. The survey results from the second quarter of this year showed that RenewData clients are extremely satisfied with the level of service received and in fact showed that 100% of survey respondents would likely refer RenewData to their colleagues.

The satisfaction survey is sent to every RenewData client at the completion of each project. Additional survey results showed that clients' overall experience with their RenewData Project Manager was outstanding; in fact, they received a 98% satisfaction rating. In addition, the survey asks clients to rate the timeliness, quality and accuracy of their project deliverables. Survey results were extremely positive in this area with 99.9% of client projects being delivered accurately and 99% being delivered on schedule.

The client satisfaction survey responses also include praise about RenewData in the form of client comments, such as:

"The entire RenewData team assigned to our project worked long hours to meet all of our tight deadlines for a large project."

"Every person we worked with at RenewData was outstanding."

"It's very refreshing to work with such a knowledgeable and professional group."

"Our firm will certainly utilize RenewData's services again and I will confidently refer them to my colleagues."

"The outstanding client satisfaction rates are the source of RenewData's growth," said Steven Horan, CEO of RenewData. "RenewData continues to show healthy revenue growth in 2009 with Q2 revenue increasing 18% and Q3 increasing more than 25%. But that is only the beginning. We are transforming RenewData into a sustainable market leader. Along with a solid foundation of a committed team and tested processes, we are currently building what we believe to be the most scalable and practical information governance technology platform in the industry that will deliver more flexibility, savings, and relevance to our clients and partners."

"RenewData's number one priority is client satisfaction and it is clear from our survey results that we are succeeding," said Rich Cohen, executive vice president of legal services at RenewData. "We take great pride in the fact that we are a top-tier service provider offering the best eDiscovery and archiving services possible to our clients. We continue to aggressively add many law firms, corporations and government entities to our growing list of satisfied clients, due in great part to our high client referral rate. Our goal is to turn every client into one that will proudly refer us to others."

RenewData Acquires Digital Mandate, Adds Innovative Vestigate Document Review Software to eDiscovery Technology Portfolio

Click here for more about Vestigate

Unique Vestigate Technology Lowers eDiscovery Costs for Organizations and Solves Industry Concerns for Legal and IT Professionals; Winning Combination Backed by Existing Investors

AUSTIN, TX - August 12, 2009 - RenewData, a leading provider of services for the discovery, archiving, and governance of electronically stored information (ESI), today announced it has successfully completed an acquisition of Digital Mandate, provider of discovery lifecycle management solutions including Vestigate document review software. This acquisition further strengthens RenewData's commitment to investing in technology that delivers market leading information governance solutions, significantly lowers costs to clients, and meets requirements for both legal and IT professionals. To support the acquisition and other growth initiatives, existing investors ABS Capital Partners and CIBC Capital Partners provided the equity financing.

"RenewData is committed to delivering transparency and cost savings to clients, as well as investing in information governance technology at a time when capital investment is a challenge," remarked Steven Horan, CEO of RenewData. "Superior eDiscovery solutions are rooted in both technology and legal insight and this acquisition enables both through a robust technology that utilizes legal judgment. We believe there is no other product in the market that delivers the same level of realized time and cost savings, while also delivering a measurable certainty that all relevant information has been identified. We're excited to be bringing on the exceptional Digital Mandate team and Vestigate technology platform, both of which give RenewData tremendous opportunity for growth in the market."

"With review being the most significant portion of the growing costs of eDiscovery, law firms, corporations, and government agencies are continually searching for more efficient and accurate methods for review," said George Socha of Socha Consulting. "Leveraging advanced analytics to more quickly identify relevant data, as well as utilizing sampling to measure the accuracy of results are logical next steps to helping organizations achieve these lofty objectives."

"We're excited about being a part of the RenewData team and the opportunity to integrate two great organizations," said Greg Osinoff, CEO and Founder of Digital Mandate. "I am extremely impressed with RenewData's understanding of the market and technology vision. This acquisition greatly benefits both RenewData and previous Digital Mandate clients, as it enables us to offer comprehensive solutions. Vestigate has already enabled numerous clients to greatly reduce their review time and costs, and being part of RenewData will enable us to really drive this value proposition further into the market through a larger, scalable, and more integrated platform."

The Vestigate solution is particularly beneficial for early case assessment (ECA) and first-pass review, which is often the best opportunity for lowering eDiscovery costs. "Consider early case assessment tools to investigate and test potential litigation strategies, and reduce cost by focusing on the ESI most relevant for collection," suggests Gartner analyst John Bace in a March 2009 Gartner research report titled, "Cost-Cutting Approaches to E-Discovery Featured at LegalTech". Since data is read in context, clearly irrelevant data can be quickly set aside, cutting down on the total amount of data and making strategic decisions possible before costly attorney review.
RenewData Provides eDiscovery Services for Over 900 Regulatory Investigations and Audits in Past Year

Increase in Government Agency Regulatory Investigations and Audits has Fueled Increase in eDiscovery, Archiving and Data Governance Projects

AUSTIN, TX - July 23, 2009 - RenewData, a leading provider of services for the discovery, archiving, and governance of electronically stored information (ESI), today announced they are continuing to assist numerous worldwide enterprises with eDiscovery services in response to over 900 different regulatory and audit matters over the past year. There has been a recent increase in regulatory activity particularly in highly regulated markets such as in the financial, insurance, healthcare, and pharmaceutical services sectors.

The services RenewData provided to many of the world's largest organizations include matters related to SEC investigations, DOJ requests, and a multitude of other regulatory audits. These services incorporate data processing, targeting, searching, filtering, review, and production services involving more than 70 terabytes of data over the last year for these organizations. "Today's financial market situation is necessitating an increase in the number of regulatory investigations and audits by government entities," remarked Rich Cohen, Executive VP of Legal Services at RenewData. "The good news is that there are companies like RenewData that can help organizations prepare for this inevitability. Tight deadlines are common when responding to regulatory agencies, and our experience and technology enable a high level of efficiency and accuracy in producing relevant and accurate data that is defensible in court."

When faced with a regulatory audit or investigation, these organizations seek out solutions that can quickly and accurately provide planning, collection, processing, review, and production of their electronically stored data. RenewData's robust suite of services, solid legal expertise, and leading-edge technology enable fast, cost-effective, and scalable processing of data. RenewData employs a scalable set of processes to meet requirements quickly and efficiently and does so in a highly-secure facility that ensures the confidentiality and security of electronic data at all times, as well as employs a repeatable and defensible chain-of-custody process to accurately track all data. In addition, RenewData's experienced and knowledgeable project managers have expertise in legal, discovery, and IT services and are available through every step of the project.

While much of the work RenewData has assisted these organizations with has been reactive eDiscovery services, RenewData has also utilized its ActiveVault archiving and ESI risk management services to proactively assist many of these clients in preparation for investigations and audits they knew would inevitably occur. These services enable the processing and archiving of organizations' historical data before the investigations and audits occur, thereby allowing them to more quickly and cost effectively respond to strict deadlines imposed by regulatory agencies.

RenewData will be conducting a free webinar, "Preparing for Regulatory or Internal Investigations," which will provide insight, best practices, and recommendations on how to best approach such investigations. RenewData's experts, who have performed a significant amount of work for organizations facing regulatory investigations and audits, will be presenting the webinar. Legal, IT, and risk management personnel from corporations and their outside counsel firms would greatly benefit from attending this webinar, which takes place August 5, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. CT. You may register for the event by going to RenewData's website at http://www.renewdata.com/registration.php.

RenewData Named a "Cool Vendor" by Leading Analyst Firm

Vendors selected for the "Cool Vendor report" are innovative, impactful, and intriguing

Austin, Texas, March 17, 2009 — RenewData, a leading provider of services for the discovery, archiving, and governance of electronically stored information (ESI), today announced it has been included in the list of"Cool Vendors" in the Gartner "Cool Vendors in Archiving, 2009" March 2009 report by Carolyn DiCenzo, Kenneth Chin, and Adam W. Couture. The report highlights key vendors that have entered the archiving market with new storage options and services that make archiving more cost-effective and eases the migration of older data.

RenewData's Data Migration services give organizations the ability to migrate and consolidate historical data into a new archive solution to a new one to create a centralized repository for legal discovery. RenewData utilizes its proprietary technology to extract data from various media, then de-duplicates the data, and converts it into a format that can be easily ingested by the new email platform. Once data is migrated into the new archive, organizations are then able to apply legal holds and retention policies on the historical data and eliminate the records that are not under legal hold or that have exceeded retention requirements. RenewData's repeatable, defensible chain-of-custody process is used for all migrations to ensure data integrity. Most archiving software is supported, including RenewData's own ActiveVault® Evidence Archive. In addition, RenewData has strategic partnerships with many of the top archiving software providers in the space including Symantec, Google, Mimosa, AXS-One, and ZipLip.

Key findings of the Gartner "Cool Vendors in Archiving 2009" report included, "Ingesting e-mail and file data stored on backup tapes into the corporate archiving system will enable tape retirement and more-efficient management of historical data. Service providers that provide special tools not only speed ingestion, but also provide a defendable process that may be required if data is being restored for discovery purposes."

"We believe that being named a 'Cool Vendor' by Gartner is evidence that our strategy to provide organizations with proactive services for litigation readiness and information governance is right on target," said Steven Horan, CEO of RenewData. "As organizations continue to look for ways to effectively deal with the management of both current and historical data to meet regulatory and litigation requirements, RenewData's ESI Risk Management and Evidence Archiving solutions, including ActiveVault will enable more effective management of all data in their organizations which continues to grow exponentially."

RenewData's Data Migration Service and ActiveVault Evidence Archive are an essential part of RenewData's strategy of addressing the growing requirement for ESI Risk Management (ESIRM™) and Information Governance solutions. Organizations are increasingly in need of ways to help them more effectively manage all data and information across their organization, as well as manage the risks associated with the data. The Gartner "Cool Vendors in Archiving 2009" report can be accessed by clicking here.

Regional Sales Directors Will Serve the E-Discovery, Archiving, and Data Governance Needs of Law Firms and Corporations in Western U.S.

February 12, 2009 — RenewData, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™) services today announced it has added two new regional sales directors, Andy Chaffee and Alex Lubarsky, to its sales team. The two will lead RenewData’s growth of the Western Region with Chaffee based in Los Angeles and Lubarsky in San Francisco. The appointment of these highly experienced sales executives to the region is a move which will further support the company’s strategy to provide clients with the e-discovery, archiving, and data governance services necessary to proactively approach litigation readiness.

“Both Andy and Alex possess a wealth of experience assisting law firms and corporations with their legal, technical, and e-discovery needs,” said Rich Cohen, Executive Vice President of Legal Solutions at RenewData. “Their knowledge in these areas is instrumental to the satisfaction of our clients and Andy’s and Alex’s experience will be greatly beneficial to these organizations, as well as to RenewData.
RenewData and FCS Information Governance Offer Joint Service Offerings

Joint Services Help Organizations Tackle Email Management, Backup Tapes, and M&A Activity

Austin, Texas and Phoenix, AZ – February 4, 2009 - RenewData®, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™) services and FCS Information Governance (FCS IG), a premier provider of information governance consulting services, today announced three joint service offerings to help facilitate information governance and enable organizations to better manage electronically stored information in the event of litigation, investigation, and M&A activity.

The joint services include Backup Tape Remediation, M&A Due Diligence and Post-Merger Integration, and Email Management and Archiving offerings. These new services combine the e-discovery, media extraction and processing, and evidence archiving technology of RenewData, with the professional services expertise of FCS IG to help organizations take control of their electronically stored information in a proactive and legally defensible manner.

The Backup Tape Remediation Service and the M&A Due Diligence and Post-Merger Integration Service both utilize RenewData's Backup Tape Liability Management (BTLM®) Service, which enables corporations to know what type of data exists in their organization and where it resides. The service encompasses several steps including a physical media audit, shipping services, chain-of-custody inventory, container classification, and data separation and de-duplication. FCS IG uses the information gained from RenewData’s BTLM service to help the client make informed and defensible decisions about the organization’s backup tapes, such as the amount to cull and ensuring the content is managed in accordance with the organization’s legal obligations.

FCS IG’s in-depth expertise in many highly regulated vertical markets including banking, along with its substantive knowledge in the area of information governance is leveraged to provide the M&A Due Diligence and Post-Merger Integration Service. Whether pre- or post-merger, the information gained from RenewData’s BTLM service is used to assist with M&A activity such as, due diligence or collection and merging of the acquired company’s historical data and ensuring continued compliance with legal requirements.

“Managing the dormant liability present with email and back-up tapes is a critical issue with M&A activity,” said Rich Cohen, Executive Vice President of Legal Solutions at RenewData. “The joint expertise and technology of both organizations will greatly facilitate and ensure all relevant sources of electronically stored information in an organization are identified for preservation and production when required. Both of these services will greatly benefit our clients by reducing potential legal liability and exposure from data that is unknown and unmanaged, and will provide a defensibly sound chain-of-custody procedure in the event of litigation.”

The Email Management and Archiving service combines the email policy and compliance expertise of FCS IG with the industry-leading email archiving technology and services from RenewData. FCS IG will assist organizations with development of an email management needs assessment, development of an email retention policy and implementation plan, and a legacy email remediation plan. The service then utilizes ActiveVault, RenewData’s evidence archiving solution, to enable an organization to search, cull, review, and manage their data through a secure web browser interface. ActiveVault also provides early case assessment (ECA) tools, and enables an organization to consistently manage corporate retention policies and facilitate legal holds.

“Email management is a significant challenge for today’s organizations with laws, regulations, standards, and internal retention policies demanding email be properly maintained,” said Barclay Blair, Director of Forensic Consulting Solutions’ Information Governance practice. “In addition, e-discovery requests and legal holds are requiring ever-increasing volumes of email be preserved. Our joint services will enable organizations to establish retention policies, as well as help them establish a technology platform that enables these policies to be implemented and complied with across the organization.”

RenewData Raises Additional Corporate Financing to Fuel Growth and Development of Automation and Scalability

Highly Integrated Delivery System Will Enable RenewData Clients to Successfully Establish Information Governance in their Organizations

AUSTIN, TX - February 3, 2009 - RenewData, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management (ESIRM™) services, today announced it has closed terms on additional corporate financing with ATEL Ventures and Comerica Bank. RenewData has now raised over $55 million in total capital. The financing will be used for company growth and the development of RenewData's next generation offering designed to solve critical market needs for Information Governance. The primary focus of the development investment will be a highly integrated delivery system that will connect information, no matter where found in an organization, to provide an overarching structure that will enable companies to more effectively manage, integrate, and process information.

This financing comes at a time when capital market funding has decreased significantly. "The recent events in the market clearly indicate that a lack of transparency and accountability have far reaching consequences," said Steven Horan, CEO of RenewData. "This funding not only validates that we have and will continue to operate our business with real transparency and accountability but also that our strategy is on target. We are uniquely positioned to deliver on the promise of more effective information management. We have extensive experience dealing with large data volumes, a delivery team that is committed to superior client service, and practical insight on how to deliver effective Information Governance. The quality control, user flexibility, data access, data conversion, data processing, and reporting capabilities from this investment will not only incorporate great technology but will be rooted in solving real IT and legal challenges."

To continue to be competitive in today's economy, organizations of every size and in every industry will need to establish and enforce an Information Governance strategy. "In 2009, electronic information inventories, e-discovery process definitions and information retention programs will be high priorities for companies in all industries and in government," predicts Gartner analyst, Debra Logan in a January 2009 Gartner research report titled, "What to Do About E-Discovery and Legacy Information Management in 2009". Further, "IT organizations that have an electronic information inventory, active policy management and archiving solutions, and a repeatable process in place for e-discovery will spend up to 50% less on e-discovery in 2009 than those that do not. By YE10, proactive information management tools or legacy content cleanup tools will become necessary components of enterprise content management and e-discovery suites."

RenewData also recently experienced greater than 20 percent quarter over quarter revenue growth in Q4 of 2008, despite a struggling economy. "This is a noteworthy accomplishment since so many organizations have recently seen a decline in their revenue and growth," said Steven Rea, Executive Vice President of ATEL Ventures. "RenewData's continued growth in a slowing economy and their new development strategy were both a big part of our decision to partner with them. The outlook for RenewData is very positive and we look forward to being a part of their success."

RenewData's strategy and focus is driven by the growing requirements for compliance, legal discovery, and data retention in today's organizations. In addition, the rate of litigation and the regulatory inquiries historically increases during economic downturns, which in turn raises the need for e-discovery and litigation preparedness services.

"We are extremely pleased to continue working with RenewData, and look forward to expanding our relationship further as RenewData grows and its debt financing requirements expand," said Paul Gerling, Senior Vice President Technology and Life Science Division of Comerica Bank.

Bob Little

Corporate technology departments are more involved in legal and regulatory matters than ever before. The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and their state corollaries have significant implications for IT departments. In a broad sense, the amendments increase the requirements to closely manage business records and specifically to manage digital content in a proactive manner.

Bulletproofing Historical Data for Electronic Discovery

By Vivian Tero, IDC Research Manager, Compliance Infrastructure

In 2006, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) were amended to take into account electronically stored information as it pertains to discovery -the process of making evidence available to opposing counsel during litigation proceedings. In the months since the rules went into effect, enterprises have learned that the risk associated with not being prepared for electronicdiscovery is high. And for many organizations, a key contributor to that risk is historical information sitting on backup media. To help enterprises better understand and address this risk, RenewData posed the following questions to Vivian Tero, research manager of Compliance Infrastructure, on behalf of itscustomers.

RenewData and Forensics Consulting Solutions Form Partnership to Offer Litigation Readiness Services

Services Assist Corporations with Proactive Management of Electronically Stored Data

Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ - October 16, 2008 - RenewData, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management ESIRM services and Forensic Consulting Solutions (FCS), a premier provider of e-discovery solutions, today announced they have formed a partnership to offer E-Discovery and Backup Tape Liability Management services to the legal and corporate community. The partnership combines the e-discovery and media extraction and processing expertise of RenewData with the e-discovery and consulting services of Forensic Consulting Solutions to provide proactive litigation readiness services that will assist organizations in such matters as implementing legally defensible information management rules, determining ESI retention policies, managing ESI in litigation and pre and post-merger integration planning.

The services provided by the two organizations will include RenewData's Backup Tape Liability Management (BTLMT) offering along with FCS' Litigation Readiness and Electronic Discovery Consulting services. An organization's often large inventories of historical data are likely their most at-risk data when faced with litigation and investigations. RenewData's Backup Tape Liability Management Service evaluates the content of historical media to determine the retention obligations of the data based on the organization's legal, regulatory, or retention management requirements. Once the data is identified, organizations can apply legal holds and retention policies to the data, while eliminating data not under legal hold or that has exceeded retention requirements.

"Knowing where the data is and what data is there, is imperative in today's volatile and litigious environment," said K.J. Kuchta, CEO of Forensic Consulting Solutions. "RenewData is well known in the industry as the experts in extracting and processing data from large volumes of media. We're proud to be partnering with them and taking advantage of their expertise to help our clients with their litigation readiness needs."

FCS' ESI Consultants will provide Litigation Readiness and Electronic Discovery Consulting services such as, proactive and reactive ESI management, Rule 26 conference preparation, help with governance and records retention policies, and Early Case Assessment services. The heart of proactive information management is identifying records retention requirements and defining legally defensible processes for disposing of non-essential data rapidly, thus, reducing storage growth and other IT costs and at the same time, eliminating unnecessary e-discovery costs associated with processing and review of non-responsive ESI.

FCS' ESI Consultants can also assist corporations in determining their level of preparedness for a discovery request and identifying areas of risk that can result in the loss of a case or judicial sanctions. FCS' Consultants have worked with both law firms and corporate legal counsel and are well-known and respected advisors in the industry.

"The combination of our services with Forensic Consulting Solutions will enable organizations to get control of their historical data and begin managing it in a strategic manner," said Rich Cohen, Executive Vice President of Legal Solutions at RenewData. "Armed with the knowledge we can provide about their data, their consulting experts will be able to strategically assist organizations with their compliance, legal, and retention policies. We're excited about the opportunities this partnership will provide, and we look forward to collaborating on client solutions with their highly knowledgeable consulting experts."

The reports obtained from the BTLM process can also be utilized to address Federal Rules of Civil Procedure which require both parties to provide a description of all ESI to the other party during any litigation matter. RenewData's secure facility and chain-of-custody procedures also ensure that data is always handled in a forensically sound, defensible, and secure manner.

RenewData To Participate in Association of Corporate Counsel Annual Meeting and ARMA Annual Conference and Expo

RenewData Executive Hosts ARMA Workshop on Managing Risk Associated with Historical Data

Austin, TX - October 16, 2008 - RenewData, a leading provider of e-discovery and electronically stored information risk management ESIRM services, today announced it will participate in the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Annual Meeting in Seattle, Washington from October 18 through October 22, 2008 and the ARMA Annual Conference and Expo from October 20 through October 23, 2008.

At ARMA, RenewData's CMO, Bob Little, will host a workshop on October 20, 2008 from 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. titled "How to Manage the Risks Associated with Historical and Orphan Backup Tapes." The session focuses on proactive strategies and best practices for handling orphan backup tapes and historical data stored on large volumes of backup tapes. It will also include RenewData's Electronically Stored Information (ESI) Risk Assessment, which can also be accessed on RenewData's Web site. Please click here to access.

"During the workshop at ARMA, I will outline how companies should effectively deal with historical data," said Little. "All data is discoverable whether acquired through mergers and acquisitions, created for disaster recovery data, or remain from systems no longer used and it is crucial that it is handled correctly. The ESI Risk Assessment will help attendees calculate their organization's level of risk with their historical data."

RenewData will have a booth presence at both the ARMA Annual Conference at booth 821 and at the ACC Annual Meeting at booth 825. At both conferences, RenewData will be offering booth visitors its recently released "ESI Risk Management for Dummies" book, as well as RenewData's highly popular "Electronic Discovery for Dummies." The new "ESI Risk Management for Dummies" book was created to educate IT and legal professionals about the inherent risks associated with ESI. It outlines simple steps to create a risk management plan, and provides the tools necessary to address these risks proactively. Attendees at both events will also have the opportunity to use RenewData's E-Discovery Project Estimator which calculates e-discovery project costs based on the number of custodians processed.
